    Description

The design uses shades of the Moon

The 1968 Moonphase collection reimagines a classic complication with a fresh and modern expression.

Each edition features a distinctive guilloché dial that plays with light and depth, highlighting fine details and giving the watch its own character.

Balanced proportions, symmetrical subdials, and a curved case create a harmonious and contemporary silhouette on the wrist—sophisticated and modern at the same time. The design elevates the traditional moonphase into a versatile statement piece.

    The history behind 1968 Moonphase

    The Moon’s Cycle: 29.53059 Days

The Moonphase Complication Explained The moonphase indicator displays the current phase of the Moon as seen from Earth, using a rotating disc with the Moon and stars visible through an aperture on the dial. The disc advances slightly each day to follow the Moon’s 29.5-day cycle. Today, it is primarily a decorative feature, but it pays tribute to watchmaking traditions from a time when lunar phases were used for navigation and as part of early calendar systems.

IN DEPTH WITH THE 1960 RACING

About Vintage's history with moonphase watches began in 2018 with a meaningful collaboration with Frédérique Constant. In early 2025, About Vintage launched a limited edition 1968 Moonphase, with 250 pieces that sold out almost instantly. The 1968 Moonphase collection is About Vintage response to that demand: a modern interpretation in four editions that elevates a classic complication to new heights.
